Multilanguage Authoring of Safety Data Sheets (SDS / MSDS)
Manufacturers, importers, downstream users and distributors supplying further down the supply chain to other downstream users or distributors, substances or preparations meeting the criteria for classification as dangerous, are already today required to compile and supply fully compliant safety data sheets at the first delivery of a substance or preparation.
With respect to the current legislation body, safety data sheets must disclose information on the hazards related to the substance, or preparation, as well as information on the recommended risk management measures to adequately control any risks to health and environment.

More Information on SDS Authoring...Authoring of Extended Safety Data Sheets (eSDS)
In contrast with an ordinary SDS, the extended safety data sheet (eSDS) summarises the key information from the chemical safety assessment carried out under the REACH registration process.
Each exposure scenario discloses which uses are covered for the registered substance. Ideally, the extended safety data sheet should cover all uses in the life cycle of the substance, from manufacture through to waste.
In other words, an eSDS must include conditions of safe use, that is, the operational conditions and necessary risk management measures.
The authoring process for eSDSs is lot more complex than standard SDS and requires that the corresponding substance had been previous registered under REACH.

On 20 January 2009 the Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 on classification, labelling and packaging of substances and mixtures entered into force.
It aligns existing EU legislation to the United Nations Globally Harmonised System (GHS).
This new Regulation on classification, labelling and packaging ("CLP Regulation") contributes to the GHS aim that the same hazards will be described and labelled in the same way all around the world.
By using internationally agreed classification criteria and labelling elements, the regulations aims to facilitate trade and to contribute towards global efforts to protect humans and the environment from hazardous effects of chemicals.
