How to apply for a health certificate to export SPS goods

Health certificate:

A health certificate is an official document that confirms your export meets the health requirements of the destination country.

You will be required to apply for an health certificate if you’re exporting or moving live animals or animal products from Great Britain (England, Scotland and Wales) to (or transiting through) countries in the European Union/European Economic Area.

How to use NES to complete a customs export declaration

NES: The National Export System

The National Export System is an electronic based system which allows exporters to lodge an export entry with Customs before their goods leave the UK. It is connected to the Custom Handling of Import and Export (CHIEF) system, which records the movement of goods, automatically checks for entry errors.

Exporters submitting declarations must ensure that their goods are cleared on NES before they’re loaded for transport.

How to delay customs declarations

Delayed Customs Declarations:

From January 2021 to 31 December 2021, if you're importing non-controlled, EU goods, you have the option to use delayed declarations in place of a full customs declaration at the point of import.

This is beneficial if you have not yet put in place procedures to make full customs declarations or have signed up for simplified customs declaration processes.

Moreover, it allows you to make duty payments when you submit supplementary declarations.

How to export to the EU using Transit

UK Transit System:

Transit is a customs fiscal facilitation that delays your customs import declarations and duties until arrival at your final destination.

It is an EU customs procedure that can be used between EU and Common Transit countries, such as the UK.

It removes costs for entering multiple countries in the same customs regime, and allows checks and customs procedures to take place away from the border, even at an authorised trader's premises
